Student politics can resume if teachers-students want: BUET Vice-Chancellor
Bangladesh would not be in this predicament if Jasad could work.
Today Sunday (March 31), the Vice-Chancellor told reporters in his own office.

Buet Vice Chancellor said that student politics is necessary for the development of students. Student politics can be started again if teachers and students of BUET want.

BUET students have been protesting since last Friday with 5 point demands including the ban on student politics. They staged a sit-in program demanding the permanent expulsion of six students, including Imtiaz Rabi, a 21st batch student of the Civil Engineering Department. In the meantime, the university administration has canceled Imtiaz's hall seat.

The protesting students said that after Abra's murder in 2019, student politics was banned on the campus. Disobeying that ban, some Chhatra League leaders and activists carried out activities on the campus last Wednesday night. They are protesting against it. The students of BUET have warned to boycott all academic activities including exams till Sunday to fulfill their demands.

In this context Satya Prasad Majumdar said that the investigation committee is working, we will take action if we get the report. And the exam is open, anyone can give it if they want.

Earlier on Saturday, Vice-Chancellor Satya Prasad Majumdar told reporters, "We also agree with the demands of the students." But it takes time to follow the proper process to fulfill them.

Meanwhile, Chhatra League is holding a protest rally at central Shaheed Minar on Sunday demanding the introduction of student politics in BUET.

BCL president Saddam Hossain said in the rally, student politics is banned in BUET, but banned politics is going on there. Student politics should be introduced in BUET without delay.
