A swordfish weighing 10 maunds is being caught in a fisherman's net in the Bay of Bengal. Although the fish is called sword fish in the local language of Teknaf, the real name of the fish is bird fish. The fish is sold for 80 thousand taka.
The fish was brought to Teknaf Baharchhara Shamlapur Fisheries Landing Center on Wednesday (April 24) morning. Hundreds of people gathered there.

According to local sources, the boat of Shamlapur area fisherman Abu Tayyab went fishing in the Bay of Bengal at night and the huge fish was caught.
Belal Uddin, President of Shamlapur Boat Owners Association, said that the fishermen cut the fish and took it to Chittagong fish market.
Teknaf Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Delwar Hossain said that various species of fish have grown in the sea due to compliance with government restrictions on fishing in the past days. Now the fishermen are reaping the benefits.
