To get rid of this unbearable temperature, many people are flocking to electrical product showrooms or sales centers to buy air conditioners (ACs). As a result, AC sales have increased considerably. On Sunday (April 28), talking to the officials of several marketing companies in Laxmibazar, Sadarghat area of Old Dhaka of the capital, it is known that AC sales have increased by 20-30 percent compared to normal times during extreme heat. Currently Walton, Electromart, Transcom, Esquire, Singer Bangladesh, Butterfly, Rangs, Electra International, Minister, Vision, LG are producing and marketing AC in the country. Uttam, the manager of Laxmibazar's Walton branch, said that the sale of Walton AC has increased three times compared to earlier. Suppose earlier if I used to sell five ACs daily in this showroom, now I am selling 15. People are buying AC even though they are worried about the intensity of heat. Earlier we used to open and close the shop at specific times. Now the sales pressure has increased so much that we are more or less all working overtime. About the increase in the price of AC, this manager said that our AC price has not increased in the last three years. It is not like saying that we will increase the price of AC because the heat has increased. Regarding the difference between buying AC online and in the showroom, he said that many people are ordering AC online without coming to the showroom. In that case there is some difference in price. But not more than two or three thousand rupees. Abu Sufian, the manager of Butterfly Branch in Old Dhaka's Lakshibazar, said, "We have had a lot of sales here in the last two weeks. Honestly we don't sell AC now. Because Eco and Hire ACs are out of stock. I have only LG company AC here now. It is relatively expensive. So there is a little less sale. Head office informed about customer demand and AC stock out they may do something. In response to the question of how the demand for AC has increased, this manager said, I have sold more ACs in the last three months than this month has not yet ended. If the stock was not out, maybe more would have been sold. Ashraful, the manager of Rangs E-mart branch in Old Dhaka, said about AC sales, we sell ACs of five companies: Samsung, LG, Dyking, Hisense and Tosin. Sales are much better than before. In response to the question of how much percentage the sales have increased compared to earlier, this manager said, we do not calculate how many ACs we have sold in a day or a week, but how much money we have sold. In the first week of April, we sold AC worth Tk 20 lakhs. 21 lakhs in the second week. In the third week it has reached the quota of around 40 lakh rupees. And in the fourth week of April, we sold AC worth about Tk 60 lakh. It is said that we have sold four times five times more than last month. If this fever continues for another week, it may surpass all previous sales records.
