The water level in the Kaptai lake of Rangamati has increased a lot due to continuous rains and landslides coming down from the upstream for the past few days. In this, power generation has started in all units of Karnaphuli water power plant of Kaptai upazila, one of the country. Along with that, the production of power plants has also increased.
According to Kaptai Hydro Power Station, Kaptai Lake is currently holding 89.32 MSL (mean sea level) but it is 93.5 MSL as of 8 am on Friday. At present, 200 MW of electricity is being produced with 5 units of the power plant. Among them 35 megawatts in unit 1 of the power plant, 40 megawatts in unit 2, 45 megawatts in unit 3, 40 megawatts in unit 4 and 40 megawatts in unit 5. Through which 164 MW electricity was produced. The maximum power generation capacity of the center is 230 MW.

Kaptai Water Power Plant Manager ATM Abduzzah said that currently 5 units of the power plant are in operation. Through which 200 MW electricity is being produced. He also said that if the amount of water increases, the electricity production will also increase.
