The death toll from the terror attack at the Crocus City complex in Russia has risen to 133. The Russian Investigative Committee reported this information in its latest update.
The investigating committee on the messaging app also said that rescue operations are still underway at the scene. As a result, the death toll will increase.
Four gunmen attacked the Crocus City complex on Friday (March 22) night. A concert was going on there at that time. Apart from shooting at the concert goers, the attackers also set fire to the venue with inflammable materials.
The Russian news agency Tass News reported that the names and identities of 41 of the dead have been identified. Besides, 107 people are still in the hospital.
As rescue operations began after the attack, Russian investigators said the death toll would continue to rise as time went on.
The Russian law enforcement forces have arrested four people for their direct involvement in the attack. The Russian Investigative Committee claimed the attackers were trying to flee to Ukraine.
In this regard, the Investigative Committee said, "Special agencies and law-enforcement forces of the Bryansk region, from the border with Ukraine, arrested four suspects involved in the terrorist attack in Moscow."
The Russian news agency Tass News reported on the intelligence agency FSB that the terrorists prepared the weapons in a secret place before the attack. After carrying out the attack, they planned to cross the border from Russia to Ukraine and were in contact with Ukrainian officials. Terrorists have planned this attack very well.
In addition, President Vladimir Putin claimed in his address to the nation that the attackers were trying to flee to Ukraine after the attack and that a group was working in Ukraine to assist them.
Soon after the attack, the terrorist group Islamic State-Khorasan claimed responsibility for the attack.
