The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the elite wing of Iran's military, threatened Israel after Friday's drone strike, saying any attack on the country's nuclear facilities would have dire consequences.

General Ahmed Haktalab, head of the IRGC team in charge of maintaining nuclear facilities, said in a message, "If the Zionist regime takes any steps to harm our nuclear facilities and centers, we will definitely respond and that response will be severe."

General Hakhtalab also hinted that Iran could use nuclear weapons if Israel actually attacked the nuclear facilities.

"If Israel's pseudo-Zionist groups attack nuclear facilities and project offices to put pressure on Iran, Iran will also revise its nuclear doctrine and policy and withdraw from previously announced considerations."

On April 1, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) bombed the Iranian embassy in Damascus, the capital of Syria. 13 people were killed. Among the dead were two senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the elite wing of Iran's military, Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi.

Israel has not yet claimed responsibility for the attack. But the evidence is clear that the attack was carried out by the IDF.

Last week, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel must be punished for the attack.

Then on Saturday night and Sunday, the Iranian military launched more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel. No casualties were reported in the attack. Israeli forces, with the help of the US, Jordan and regional allies, have destroyed most of the drone-missiles before they hit. However, Iran succeeded in hitting 9 Israeli installations with Iranian drones.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Iran would retaliate after this sudden attack. The country's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, also unequivocally supported the IDF's decision.
Then today Friday at 12:30 PM GMT (6:30 AM local time of Bangladesh) the IDF launched a drone attack on Isfahan, the third largest city in Iran. However, the 3 drones used in the attack were destroyed by Iran's air defense system.
The Iranian military has a large airbase and several nuclear facilities in Isfahan, 340 kilometers south of the capital Tehran.
It should be noted that Iran has an extreme conflict with Israel over the Palestine issue. That conflict has escalated since the start of an Israeli offensive in Gaza on October 7.
