Frauds using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create fake voices, images and videos are increasing day by day. Even the trend of spreading fake information has increased more than before. To solve these problems, OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has created a deepfake detector tool to detect fake images created through artificial intelligence.
Using OpenAI's new tool, any artificial image created by the 'Dal-E' image generator can be detected. OpenAI has already tasked a few researchers to test the tool's functionality.

According to OpenAI, the DeepFake Detector tool cannot detect fake images created by other companies' image generators, including Midjourney, Stability. And so the technology experts believe that the tool will not be able to play a significant role in preventing the spread of deepfake images. This is not unknown to OpenAI either. The company has started working on improving the tool to solve the problem.
Sandhini Aggarwal, a researcher at OpenAI, said, “There is no effective way to combat deepfake images or videos. We are starting new research. The new tool can correctly identify images created using the Dal-e 3 model 98.8 percent of the time. The tool is not designed to detect images generated by midjourney and stability image generators.'
Apart from this, OpenAI is working with various organizations, non-profit organizations and research institutes to solve the deepfake problem. Not only that, Google and Meta have also decided to join the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity committee. This committee will work in the future to identify fake digital content online.
