The South African cricket team is scheduled to come to Bangladesh on October 16 to play a two-match Test series. Before that, they received new bad news. The Proteas will be without regular captain Temba Bavuma in the first Test. He was ruled out of the first match due to an elbow injury. As a result, Aiden Markram will lead the visitors in the Test starting from October 21 in Mirpur.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed this information in a statement. Earlier, pacer Nandre Berger was ruled out of the entire series due to a back injury. Dewald Brevis and Lungi Ngidke were later added to the Proteas squad. Meanwhile, CSA hopes that Bavuma will be able to play in the second Test against Bangladesh, for which he will come with the team on this tour.

Captain Bavuma will mainly focus on the injury recovery with the Protea medical team. The second Test will start from October 29 at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Bavuma, 35, suffered an elbow injury while batting in the second ODI of the Ireland series. Due to which he could not play in the third ODI of the series. He had to return to the dressing room as a retired heart even in the injured match. Later, Bavuma was not fielded again.

Rassie van der Dusen captained South Africa for the remainder of the Ireland series. Another star Aiden Markram was rested in the series. He is returning to the field again with the series against Bangladesh. Brevis has been called into the team to cover the absence of Bavuma. However, he has not made his international Test debut so far. The batting all-rounder has played two T20Is so far for the Protea national team.

However, Brevis has the experience of playing 12 first-class matches. He recently played a match for South Africa 'A' team against Sri Lanka 'A' team. Braves scored 49 and 74 runs in two innings in the 5-wicket loss match. Meanwhile, Ngidi played in all three ODIs against the Irish. Where this right-arm pacer took four wickets in the first two matches.

Berger's injury cost him a place in the Test squad. Whereas Kagiso Rabada, Dan Patterson and Wian Mulder are already in the Protea pace department for the Bangladesh series.
