550 BRTC buses plying in Dhaka will be added to the Eid service
Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will run special arrangements to facilitate the movement of people facing home on the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Out of 600 buses plying in Dhaka city, 550 buses will join the Eid journey. These buses will transport passengers across the country. And 50 will run in the capital. The state-owned transport company said that this decision has been taken due to the long Eid holiday. Tajul Islam, chairman of the organization, gave this information in a press conference organized on Monday (March 18) about the past, present and future working methods of BRTC. However, the route plan of the Eid trip and the detailed information about it have not been given. The company will announce it next week. Tajul Islam said, we had a meeting last week on the occasion of Eid. It has been decided that we have 600 buses in Dhaka city. From here, leaving 50 buses for Dhaka city, the remaining 550 buses will be added to the Eid service. Apart from this, the rest of our long distance buses will run regularly. This decision has been taken as the Eid holiday is long. When asked about the Eid plan, he said, we will give it in a few days in the form of a public notice in the newspaper. Tajul Islam said, only 34 cars of our fleet are on lease. We no longer lease cars. It will be brought down to zero quota. He said, in 2020, out of 1,825 buses, 885 buses were on route; In 2021, 1,062 out of 1,762 buses were on-route, in 2022, 1,233 out of 1,350 buses were on-route and in 2023, 1,253 out of 1,350 buses were on-route.
