Xiaomi launched its first electric car in the market
Chinese smartphone maker and tech giant Xiaomi has launched its first self-made electric car. The sale of two models of cars named SU 7 and SU 7 Max has also started from Friday.
The price of each SU 7 model is 2 lakh 15 thousand 900 yuan (Bangladeshi currency 32 lakh 51 thousand 452 taka) and the price of each SU 7 Max model is 2 lakh 99 thousand 900 yuan (Bangladeshi currency 45 lakh 58 thousand 164 taka). The company's top executive, Lei Jun, told the BBC that they are getting an unprecedented response from customers. He also noted that more than 50,000 new orders came from buyers in the first 27 minutes after the two models went on sale on Friday morning.
According to economics and trade analysts, electric vehicles are currently an emerging industry as the demand for eco-friendly vehicles is increasing in various countries around the world. Until now, the US company Tesla and the Chinese company BYD have been running an almost exclusive business in this market. Xiaomi officially entered the market with the launch of its own car on Friday.
However, there is a huge demand for Tesla cars in China's domestic market. Among the Tesla Model 3 generation cars that are readily available in the Chinese market, the cheapest price is 245,900 Yuan (37,37,421 Tk in Bangladeshi currency).
Lei Jun said that the two sports car models of the Porsche company, SU7 and SU7 Max, are modeled after the Taycan and Panamera. Both vehicles have a minimum range of 700 km, while the Tesla Model 3 generation vehicles have a minimum range of 567 km.
In addition to the regular manual, the AU 7 and SU 7 Max can also be operated with smartphones, laptops and other electronic devices.
Incidentally, Xiaomi is the third largest smartphone selling company in the world. As a percentage of the number of smartphones sold in the market every year, 12 percent of them come from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi announced the production of the first electric car in 2022. Lei Jun told the BBC that their company is going to sign an agreement with China's state-owned car manufacturer BAIC soon. If the agreement is signed, Xiaomi will get the responsibility of BAIC's Beijing plant.
