Video streaming platform YouTube has removed more than 9 million videos from around the world in three months. Among them, the world's most popular entertainment platform has removed about one and a half lakh videos uploaded from Bangladesh alone.
Recently, the online verification and media research platform DismissLab has reported this information.
According to the report, YouTube has removed more than 9 million videos from around the world from October to December 2023 for not following community guidelines. Also the comments made by the users have been deleted. Out of the total 30 countries on the list, India has the highest number of videos removed. 1 lakh 52 thousand 51 videos were removed from Bangladesh, which is in the eighth position in terms of numbers.
It said the highest 39.2 percent of videos were removed because there was a risk of spreading violence or immediate harm. A maximum of 32.4 percent of videos were then removed due to concerns about children's safety. Apart from this, sensitive violent or graphic content such as riots, bloodshed were removed by 7 and a half percent.
YouTube verifies policy violations using humans and artificial intelligence (AI). However, 96 percent of deleted videos were decided by AI.
