Bangladesh Bank has taken the initiative to exchange new notes like every year to increase the joy of Eid several times. On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, Bangladesh Bank is releasing a total of Tk 106 crore 56 lakh new notes in the market from March 31.
Common people can exchange new notes till April 9 (excluding weekends and public holidays). For the first time, distribution is not being done from the head office of Bangladesh Bank. It has been reported that Bangladesh Bank will not have the opportunity to exchange new notes due to security reasons.
Bangladesh Bank will start exchanging new notes through 80 branches of public and private banks in Dhaka, Munshiganj, Savar, Gazipur, Chittagong and Narayanganj areas from tomorrow on the occasion of Ramadan Eid.
Last time where new rupee notes were distributed through 40 branches of commercial banks besides Bangladesh Bank. New notes of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 taka can be collected till April 9, except for two days a week. Customers can get new notes in these branches for eight days. But a person cannot accept new notes more than once.
New money is not being exchanged in Bangladesh Bank this year

In this regard, the spokesperson and executive director of Bangladesh Bank, Majbaul Haque told Kalbela that a customer can take a total of 18,500 new notes in exchange for old ones. Each branch has been instructed to give new money to at least 90 people daily. Accordingly, a branch will distribute new notes of at least 16 lakh 65 thousand rupees daily. And 13 crore 32 lakh new notes will be distributed through 80 branches in one day. In this way, 106 crore 56 lakh new notes will be issued in eight days. This amount of notes is negligible compared to the demand.
Usually, new notes are issued on two Eids in a year. Bangladesh Bank's head office and branches of commercial banks issue new notes of 25 to 33 thousand crore rupees every time.
Customers could collect new money from the ground floor of the 30-storey building of Central Bank in Motijheel, Dhaka by fingerprinting. Last time a person managed to collect maximum new notes of 8500 rupees. Last Eid, Bangladesh Bank opened 5 counters to issue new notes of Tk 15 thousand crores.
Many people turned to Bangladesh Bank as customers did not get new currency notes compared to the demand in commercial bank branches. An average of four to five hundred people take new money from Bangladesh Bank every day.
But this time regarding the suspension of the facility of taking money from Bangladesh Bank, Majbaul Haque said that the number of branches of the bank has been increased to 80 so that the customers can take new money notes. New currency notes will be given as per their demand.
Being a Bangladesh Bank KPI (Key Point Installation) area, general access has been restricted to ensure greater security. Because of this, Bangladesh Bank will not distribute new money.

On March 20, Bangladesh Bank officially announced that new money will be available at the bank's branches from March 31. But a week before that, all kinds of shiny new currency notes went to seasonal traders. From the day after the announcement, the new currency notes were received by some traders. The price of this note that came earlier is also high.
