14 buses gutted in fire in Dhaka’s Demra

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that the incident in which 14 Volvo buses of London Express which were standing in the Demra garage of the capital were burnt down was sabotage or not. Police say, in the event of an accident, one to two buses would have been burnt, but how did 14 expensive Volvo buses in a row burn together! That raises suspicions.

On Monday (April 1) night, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Wari Division of Dhaka DMP. Iqbal Hossain said these things.

Md. Iqbal Hossain said that the bus caught fire while standing in the garage at Dharmikpara in Demra of the capital. Instantly the fire spread around and 14 buses got burnt one by one. As per the initial reports, the fire spread to 14 buses after the fire in one bus standing in the garage.

In response to the question whether the incident was sabotage or not, DC Iqbal Hossain of Wari Division said that the investigation is being conducted to determine whether it was an accident or sabotage. The police have already started working. The fact that so many buses were burnt at once will be seriously investigated.

Earlier, the fire service received a report of the fire at 8:50 pm on Monday (April 1). After that, five units of fire service brought the fire under control at 9:48.

Rashed Din Khalid, duty officer of the fire service control room, said that there was a fire in a Volvo bus in the garage at Dharmikpara, Konapara, Demra of the capital. Two units of Demra fire station and later three more units from Siddikbazar joined the fire control. Five fire service units brought the fire under control at 9:48 pm. However, 14 Volvo buses of London Express got burnt in the fire incident.

Initially, the fire service official could not give any information about the cause of the fire and the damage.
