Four trucks and a private car were burnt after an oil-carrying lorry overturned in Hemayetpur of Savar near Dhaka. At this time, one person was killed and three people were burnt.
The incident took place in Jorpul area of Dhaka-Aricha highway in the early hours of Tuesday (02 April).
Eyewitnesses said that at 5:35 in the morning, an oil-carrying lorry lost control and hit the road island and caught fire. Traffic stopped on the road. At that time, fire spread in four trucks and a private car stuck behind the lorry.
An ambulance and two units of Savar Fire Service and Civil Defense reached the spot after receiving the information and rescued the four people in a burning condition and quickly sent them to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. At this time, one person was killed. The identity of the casualties is not known.
The station officer of Savar Fire Service Nurul Islam said that the fire has been brought under control. However, traffic on the highway is closed. The identity of the injured in this incident is yet to be confirmed.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Model Police Station Shah Zaman said that the Dhaka-Aricha highway was closed for about two hours after the fire incident. Now the situation is normal.
