Israel attacked Lebanon amid tensions with Iran

Tensions between Iran and Israel rose last week after a missile attack on Iran's consulate in Syria killed at least 13 people. In such a situation, Israel fears an attack from Iran at any time.

Even a couple of days ago, the GPS service was stopped in a large part of Israel due to the fear of Iran's attack. Israel has also beefed up its air defenses in anticipation of a possible attack.

In this ongoing tension with Iran, Israel has attacked Lobban. The late-night attack targeted a training camp of Hezbollah, a powerful pro-Iranian armed group.

According to the report, Israel launched an airstrike in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon early on Sunday, two security sources in the country told Reuters. The attack came hours after an Israeli drone was shot down in Lebanon.

Sources said Israel carried out the attack targeting a training camp of the armed group Hezbollah in the village of Janata on the border with Syria. The sources said that Safari town, located near the eastern city of Baalbek, was also targeted.

Since the start of the Hamas-Israeli conflict on October 7 last year, Hezbollah and the Israeli military have regularly exchanged fire along the border. This is the worst violence on the Israeli-Lebanese border since the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel.

The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has greatly increased regional tensions.

Meanwhile, the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah said on Saturday it shot down an Israeli drone.

Hezbollah said in a statement, "This drone of the Israeli army's Hermage 900 type was shot down by Islamic resistance fighters on the territory of Lebanon on Saturday evening."
