Father suffering from cancer, 10-year-old daughter has taken over the family

Ten-year-old girl child Jamie Akhter. At the age when you are supposed to go to school with books in your uniform and run around the school grounds with your classmates, you are at that age to earn money.

The family has to run. Little Jamie is managing the father's only shop for 13 hours to provide for the family.

Jami Akhter, daughter of couple Zahirul Islam and Pinky Akhter of North Jalasi area of Panchagarh municipality. She is the elder of two sisters. His younger sister is only four.

It is known that Jamie is a 3rd class student at Molani Para Government Primary School. But for the last one and a half years, his father is sick with cancer, so he has to look after the shop. That's why he can't go to school. In front of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Parishad, next to Vir Mukti Joddha Sirajul Islam Stadium, Jamie spends his childhood selling day and night in a shop called 'Jamie and Jasmine Store' in the market of Upazila Parishad.

Locals said that the family was happy for a while but suddenly Zahirul fell ill. After that, he came to know about the cancer after the examination on the doctor's advice. He started treatment by selling the cows and goats at home. In the meantime, despite starting treatment in India, there is a shortage of money. Child Jamie has been managing his father's only shop for the last one and a half years due to money problems including food. Sometimes she leaves her mother at the shop and goes to school, but she is unable to go many times due to her responsibilities. And with the income from this shop, Jamie is continuing the family along with his father's treatment.

Jamie's mother Pink Akhter said, we have finished everything behind the treatment of her husband. Now this girl and the shop are our only hope. But in between we spend our days in a very inhuman condition. We are in dire need of help.

Shahjalal, a local social worker, said, "It is very painful to see the baby girl, my son's age." He is supposed to be in school and playground at the age when he is running the shop and running the family. He does not know that he will have to suffer more in the future. But I think this family is rich on the side and if the government comes forward they can live a little better. So it has become very important to stand by them.
