He said that although there is a heat wave throughout the month of April, the temperature is likely to drop from May 2. He also said that it may rain every day from May 2 to 5. Along with this, there is also a possibility of Kalbaisakhi storm. Earlier yesterday, on Thursday, the Meteorological Office issued the third round of 3-day heat alert. The maximum temperature recorded in Jessore was 42.4 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. But it felt more than 45 degrees. The temperature in Dhaka today is 39.1 degrees Celsius. Also, excess water vapor may increase discomfort. Besides, day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. According to the heat wave forecast, very intense heat wave is flowing over Chuadanga and Jessore districts. Intense heat wave is also flowing over other districts of Khulna division including Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts. Also, mild to moderate heat wave is flowing over Barisal division including Dhaka, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Bogra, Naoga, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Kurigram, Panchgarh, Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Feni and Bandarban districts. The weather office said that this may continue. However, there may be rain with gusty wind or rain with thunder in two places in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, said the Meteorological Office. Also, there may be scattered hailstorms in these regions. Earlier, the Meteorological Department had issued two heatwave warnings this month. The second round of heatwave warning was issued on April 19. Last Sunday, the educational institutions were supposed to open after the 26-day closure. But, due to heat wave, the vacation period is extended. According to the new announcement, schools and colleges are scheduled to open from April 28.
