Yemen's Houthis say they have conducted a joint military operation targeting four ships in Israel's northern port of Haifa. On Saturday (June 22), they conducted a joint operation with the armed group Islamic Resistance of Iraq. British news agency Reuters reported this news.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sari said in a televised statement that the two groups carried out drone attacks on two cement tankers and two cargo ships in the port of Haifa on Saturday.
He said the ships were targeted. Because the company owning the ships violated the ban on entering ports in occupied Palestine.
Earlier, the Iranian-backed Houthis threatened to target all Israeli ships anchored in the port. Sari claimed that their objective in the campaign was successful. However, a US official who did not want to be named said that their claim is wrong.
He also said that the Houthis have been repeatedly making false claims of hitting or sinking ships in the Red Sea on their social media.
