Students injured in anti-discrimination student movement in Barisal have been announced free bus fare for life. Apart from this, 50 percent fee waiver has also been announced for all students subject to the production of identity card.

Barisal Patuakhali Bus-Minibus Owners Association took this decision on Sunday (September 1) afternoon.

Ziauddin Sikder, convener of owner association and member secretary of Barisal Mahanagara BNP, announced this in the presence of journalists in Rupatali bus terminal area. At that time, he declared the bus terminal as an extortion free area.

Ziauddin Sikder said, those who have controlled the bus terminals for the past 15 years have ruined the reputation of this sector by extorting monopoly. The money that we used to subsidize the terrorists of Awami League, from now on we will spend it on building the country. We want to provide free service in our buses for life to the students who were injured in the anti-dictatorship movement. Hope students will give us that opportunity.

Asking for the list of injured students, he said, we will contact the authorities of the educational institutions of the city, including Barisal University, and the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement. If they give us the list further action will be taken accordingly.
