The India Today Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll for February 2025 surveyed public opinion in Northeast India on the Indian government's decision to shelter former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The poll found that 55% of respondents believe she should be sent back to Bangladesh to improve India’s ties with the current government in Dhaka. Meanwhile, 23% supported India's decision, stating that "she was an ally of India, so it’s the right thing to do," while 16% suggested she should be relocated to another country instead of being sent back to Bangladesh.

The survey results contrast with responses from the rest of India. Among all Indian respondents, 37.6% supported India's decision to shelter Hasina, 21.1% preferred she be sent back to Bangladesh, and 29.1% believed she should be relocated elsewhere. The poll reflects differing regional perspectives on India's foreign policy regarding Bangladesh.
