The New Year ceremony must be completed by 6 pm, ballon and fireworks are prohibited

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed that all events to celebrate Bengali New Year 1431 should be completed by 6 pm. At the same time, lanterns-fireworks and Vuvuzela flutes have been banned during the New Year celebrations.

These decisions were announced in the law and order meeting held at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (March 27).

At this time, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued several guidelines regarding the organization of various events including the annual festival, Baisakhi fair, sports and cultural events. They are-

1. The district administration, district police and organizers will coordinate and ensure security in the events.

2. Special security measures including sweeping, dog squad will be taken at important places including Ramna Botmul, Ramna Park, Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka University, Hatirjheel and Rabindra Sarobar. In these events, there will be special surveillance by the necessary forces of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

3. Those who are trying to spread misinformation about Bengali New Year celebrations through social media including Facebook will be brought under the law.

4. Necessary security will be ensured during the New Year fair organized by Bangla Academy and BCIC at Bangla Academy premises.

5. All events in the country, including Ramna Park, Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka University, Hatirjheel and Rabindra Sarovar must be completed by 6 pm.

6. Organizers should have their own security arrangements with law enforcement agencies at the New Year events. Security will be provided by coordination of own volunteers and law enforcement forces.

7. Special security will be provided to important areas and installations, including diplomatic areas, during the New Year.

8. During the New Year celebrations, there will be fire service teams with fire trucks and ambulances and medical teams at important points of events in Dhaka city and across the country.

9. Mobile courts and intelligence forces will be engaged to prevent any kind of unpleasant incidents including eve-teasing, pickpocketing and pickpocketing during the New Year celebrations.

10. Playing of vuvuzela flutes will be prohibited during the New Year celebrations.

11. During the New Year, the prisons of the country will serve quality food and organize cultural events.

12. No lanterns or fireworks of any kind shall be allowed.

13. Measures will be taken to prevent drug abuse during Bengali New Year.
