A five-member investigation committee constituted by the Standing Committee of BNP has launched an investigation into the incident of beating two brothers to death on the night of April 18 at Panchapalli of Dumaine Union in Madhukhali, Faridpur. Members of the investigation committee went to Choperghat village of Naopara union of the upazila at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday (May 1).
At that time, BNP Vice Chairman Nitai Roy Chowdhury, convener of the investigation committee, Bijan Kanti Sarkar, advisor to BNP Chairperson and member of the investigation committee, Shama Obaid, BNP organizing secretary, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal, member of BNP Central Executive Committee and Amalendu Das Apu, BNP's joint religious affairs secretary were present.

The two deceased brothers are Ashraful and Asadul, sons of Shahjahan Khan of Choperghat village of Naopara union. They were construction workers.
Shama Obaid, organizing secretary of BNP said, as soon as the information about such a shameful incident was received, the senior joint secretary general of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi demanded a fair trial of the incident through a press release. BNP Vice Chairman Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury convened a five-member investigation committee. Today we came to Madukhali under his leadership. We demand justice for such incidents.
Nitai Roy Chowdhury, vice chairman of BNP and convenor of the investigation committee, said that Bangladesh is a unique country of communal harmony. Although there is diversity in the religious beliefs of the inhabitants of this country, there has been communal harmony among themselves since time immemorial. No controversy can be created here.
At this time, BNP leaders spoke to the parents of the deceased and expressed their condolences. The central leaders paid fifty thousand rupees in cash to the parents of the victims.
Nitai Roy Chowdhury said, we have not come here with any political program. The brutal manner in which the workers were tortured and killed in Dumain's Panchpalli should never happen again in Bangladesh. I have come to demand punishment through proper investigation of those involved in the incident. BNP will stand by the families of the victims in any legal assistance.
Among others, BNP's joint organizing secretary Selimuzzaman, joint public education affairs secretary Anisur Rahman Talukder, Juba Dal joint legal secretary Noore Alam Siddiqui and Chhatra Dal's former vice president Jaydev Kumar, Faridpur district BNP convener Syed Modarresh Ali, member secretary AK Kibria along with district and Madukhali Upazila BNP leaders and activists were present.
Incidentally, on the evening of April 18, 7 workers who were working on the construction of the school were tied up in a room of the school and beaten due to the incident of fire on the statue of an ink temple adjacent to the Panchapally Government Primary School of Madhukhali Upazila of Faridpur. Two brothers died in this incident. In this incident, three cases have been filed so far in Madhukhali police station on charges of murder, idol fire and assault on the police. 24 people have been arrested in this case.
