Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the party's standing committee, said that the main goal of the government is not to protect the people, but to punish the acting chairman of BNP, Tariq Rahman.

He made this comment in response to the Prime Minister's speech at a human chain organized by Dhaka District BNP on the road in front of the National Press Club on Monday (May 27).

Nazrul Islam said, many people, assets and townships of the country have been damaged by Cyclone Remal - we are worried about this. When there is this extreme crisis in the country, when coastal areas are asked to show the number 10 disaster signal, I saw in the newspaper who is sitting in the seat of the country's prime minister. We heard him (Prime Minister) say, using a bad word, to bring Tarek back to the country. When the country is in disaster, saving the people of the country is not the main task. Protecting people's wealth is not an important task. The only important task for them is to bring Tariq Rahman back to the country to face justice.

Nazrul Islam also said because Ziaur Rahman was killed. Arafat Rahman Koko had to die without medical treatment abroad, Khaleda Zia is being pushed to the face of death without being given the opportunity of proper treatment. There is only Tariq Rahman in the Zia family. Zia's family disliked him so much that he had to be brought home and punished.

He said, what is the crime of Tariq Rahman. A judge acquitted him in one case. That judge could not stay in the country later. Like SK Sinha he had to leave the country. He was tried in the High Court. Tariq Rahman's name was nowhere to be found, including in another case. Abdul Kahar Akand, a retired police officer, was campaigning in his area by putting up boat marker banners. He was brought from there and assigned to a higher position and appointed as the investigation officer of this case. Mufti Hannan was remanded for more than 100 days and tortured and given the name of Tariq Rahman. In that case, he was sentenced abroad. He was not even given an opportunity to defend himself. Mufti Hannan told the Magistrate at One Sixty Four that he was forced to do it. Before the judgment of this case, why was such an important accused executed in another case?

Nazrul Islam Khan said, the main reason for anger against Tarek Rahman is that Tarek Rahman has belittled and strengthened the democracy restoration movement today. In the history of the country, Tariq Rahman united all the right, left, democratic and Islamist political parties of the country and started a movement against the government for democracy. The people of the country did not go to the polling stations and cast their votes.

He said, that's why cyclones, rise in commodity prices, currency devaluation, corruption, lawlessness, human rights deprivation, state bank loot, increase in state debt, even after the former army and police chiefs face international sanctions, none of them are the main work. The main task is to punish Tariq Rahman.
