Polling for the fourth phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad is going on in Chandpur. On Wednesday (June 5), the voter turnout in Rupsa South Union of Faridganj Upazila is low. Apart from this, the presence of women voters was not seen in any center even after 4 hours of the polling. It has been found that no woman voter has voted in this upazila since independence for 53 years. Even today they did not meet at the polling station. Women voters do not go to vote in Rupsa South Union of this upazila in any election including Jatiya Sangsad, Union and Upazila Parishad elections. It can be seen that male voters have come to vote in some centers. Even after 4 hours of voting, no woman came as usual. Most of the centers of that union did not see the presence of women voters. However, the presence of some women voters was noticed in two centers. Besides, the number of male voters was also less. According to local sources, Maududul Hasan came to this country from Saudi Arabia to preach the religion of Jainpuri (RA). About 56 years ago there was once a cholera epidemic in this union. Prayers are organized to ward off epidemics. Then that Pir Moududul Hasan Jainpuri advised women to follow veil. Since then women gradually lost interest in voting. Monirul Islam, presiding officer of Char Mandari Shaheed Smriti Government Primary School Centre, said that among the total voters of my centre, there are 1310 male voters and 1176 female voters. Among them 163 male voters came to vote. And only 13 women voters exercised their right to vote. But most of those women are Hindus. Abdur Rashid, an old voter of Char Mandari village, said, I came to vote in the morning. But the women in our union never vote. Pir Saheb ordered the women to remain veiled. No woman has shown interest in voting since independence, nor have we forced it. Till date no woman in our house has voted. Monir Hossain Monir, a resident of Sahebganj area of the union, said that Huzur had ordered that no woman of this union should go to vote, everyone should stay inside the veil. No woman goes to vote in obedience to his order. But no one is allowed to vote. Azizul Islam, presiding officer of Girdkalindiya High School center said, only 4 women voters of my center exercised their right to vote. Kaunia Shaheed Habibullah High School presiding officer Lokman Hossain said that 194 male voters voted in 8 booths out of a total of 3,345 voters. Only four women voted here. In this regard, Additional Regional Election Officer Comilla and Returning Officer Kachua and Faridganj. Mozammel Hossain said, we have campaigned in various ways for every voter to come. Not only us, the district and upazila administrations also campaigned in various ways to come to their polling stations. I don't know why they come. Incidentally, these two upazila elections were supposed to be held in the 3rd phase of the upazila elections on May 29. The Election Commission postponed the election on May 28 due to power outage due to Cyclone Remal. Voting will start from 8 am on Wednesday (June 5) and will continue uninterrupted till 4 pm. Among the two upazilas, one municipality in Faridganj upazila has 371 thousand 669 voters in 16 unions. Among them, 1 lakh 95 thousand 122 male voters and 1 lakh 77 thousand 557 female voters.
