Sheikh Hasina's tribute to Bangabandhu's portrait on A.League's founding anniversary

Today is the 75th anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League. On this occasion, party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by giving flowers.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Bangabandhu's portrait at 32 Dhanmondi at 7 am on Sunday. Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Bangabandhu's portrait along with the top leaders of the party first as Prime Minister and later as President of Awami League.

After paying respects to the Prime Minister, the leaders and activists of different units of Awami League including Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swachhasebak League and various associates and fraternal organizations of the party paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu.


The national flag and party flag were hoisted at the party's central office and nationwide party offices at sunrise on Awami League's platinum jubilee.

At 10:30 am, a delegation from the Awami League Central Executive will pay respects at the grave of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is lying in eternal sleep in Tungipara, Gopalganj.

On the occasion of the foundation anniversary, a discussion meeting will be held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan on that day. The program will be inaugurated at 2:15 PM by hoisting the national and party flags, playing the national anthem, flying balloons and pigeons.

After that, discussion meeting and cultural program will be held at 2:30 pm. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over this meeting. The central leader of Awami League, the party's leaders and workers at all levels along with invited guests will participate in this meeting.

Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader hoisted the national and party flags on the 75th founding anniversary of Awami League, paid homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, discussed the history and heritage of Awami League and held cultural programs to celebrate the founding anniversary in a grand manner through various useful programs. Awami League has called upon the leaders, workers and supporters of all levels including district/metropolitan, upazila/ police station, municipal/union and ward branches of allied and fraternal organizations.

The 'Awami Muslim League' was born on June 23, 1949 in the traditional Rose Garden of old Dhaka. After six years, the word 'Muslim' was removed from the name of the party in a non-communal spirit.

Then the rights of 7.5 million Bengalis were pronounced through the Bangladesh Awami League in 1971 under the leadership of Bangabandhu after passing the 6 points of 66, the Agartala conspiracy case of 1968, the popular uprising of 1969.
