Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast said that this cyclone 'Asana' may hit the western Indian state of Gujarat as well as the coast of the southeastern province of Sindh, Pakistan. After that it may move towards Oman over the northeastern Arabian Sea.
It is known that rain has already started in Gujarat due to the impact of this cyclone. Vast areas are submerged in water. The situation in the area is likely to deteriorate further. District authorities urged local residents to leave their homes and take shelter in shelters due to the cyclone.
Meteorologists in India say cyclones are rare in the region during the monsoon season. Generally during the months of June to September, depressions cannot develop into cyclones due to the strong resistance of the southwest monsoon.
Director General of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Meher Sahebzada Khan told a press conference that the cyclonic trough has formed off the Karachi-Gwadar coast. This may result in heavy rainfall after hitting the western coastal areas.
The PMD forecast has asked the provincial government of Sindh to prepare for the storm. Heavy rains are also reported in various districts of Sindh. They also fear that flash floods may occur in some parts of Sindh before the storm due to rains.
Incidentally, a total of three cyclones formed in the Arabian Sea between 1891-2023. However, cyclones are a rare occurrence in the Arabian Sea in August.
