Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company PLC (BSCCPLC) announced in a press release on Saturday (November 30) that internet services will be temporarily disrupted for approximately 3 hours on Sunday night (December 1). The disruption is scheduled for maintenance work on the country’s first submarine cable system (SMW4), located in Cox’s Bazar. According to the release, the maintenance will be carried out from 3:00 AM to 5:59 AM on Monday (December 2) near the Chennai Landing Station at the Chennai end and the Tuas Landing Station at the Singapore end of the cable system.

"During this period, services through circuits connected via SMW4 from Cox’s Bazar to the Chennai route and the Singapore route will be temporarily disrupted," stated the press release. BSCCPLC expressed sincere regret for any temporary inconvenience this may cause to their customers. The maintenance work aims to resolve technical issues in the submarine cable system through consortium-led operations.
