A gang extorted Tk 10 lakh from the wife of Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Narail by threatening to spread the video. Bipasha Biswas, wife of UNO Animesh Biswas, filed a blackmail case on March 12 after the incident on February 17, citing an anonymous gang.
Ansar member Akash Biswas (27) was arrested by the police in the case of extortion. Akash is the son of deceased Nihar Biswas of Rangpur village of Dumuria upazila in Khulna. He has been working as a bodyguard of the upazila executive officer for the past two years.
It has been mentioned in the statement of the case that on February 17, a gang called the number used by the Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer on WhatsApp about an obscene video, threatening to spread the adult video. Her husband UNO was then threatened with death. The gang repeatedly threatened the Upazila Nirbahi officer and his wife on their mobile phones.
Afraid of this incident, Chakra sent 8 lakh 94 thousand taka to Dutch Bangla Bank on 17 February and 1 lakh 6 thousand taka on 18 February. Out of fear, Bipasha Biswas gave money to her upazila executive officer husband's honor and safety of life in stages to the bank account of the threat. UNO's wife did not specify what the adult video was in the statement of the case. He mentioned that he did not even see it.
It is also mentioned in the case, when the money was sent, the bodyguard Ansar member Aakash who was in the car of UNO suggested that the money can be sent to the account from the booth of Dutch Bangla Bank. Bipasha, UNO's wife, suspected Akash based on these words.
According to Lohagara police sources, on the afternoon of the 11th of this month, the bodyguard Aakash Lakshipasha got down at the bus stand from Dumuria in Khulna to join work after his leave, and the police arrested him. The case was filed on Tuesday, March 12, and the next day he was arrested and sent to jail through the court.
Accused bodyguard Akash's brother Samar said that the real mystery of the incident should be revealed through proper investigation. If Akash has committed a crime, let him be punished. If he has confessed to any outrage, then the administration and the government should be strongly demanded to conduct a proper investigation.
In this regard, the victim tried to contact UNO's wife several times, but she did not pick up the phone. Upazila executive officer Animesh Biswas said he did not know anything about the extortion case filed by his wife. In response to another question, he said that he did not want to say anything about the pending matter.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagarh police station Kanchan Kumar Roy said that the police have got evidence about the involvement of guard Akash. Akash was arrested for his involvement in an extortion case.
District Ansar Commandant Bikash Chandra Das said, I heard the incident, it is sensitive for our forces. If it is a departmental matter, is departmental approval required before the case or detention? In response to this question, he said that it should have been informed to the Ansar department.
