The court framed charges against 33 accused in the murder case of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu in Shahjahanpur of the capital. Through this, the formal trial of this case has started.

On Monday (April 29), Judge Mohammad Ali Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 gave this order.

Earlier, on April 25, the state party held a hearing in favor of framing charges against 33 accused. On the other hand, the lawyers on behalf of the other defendants, except the absconding six defendants, sought exemption from the liability of the case. After the hearing, the court fixed April 29 for the order in this regard. On June 5, the investigating officer of the case, DB Police Inspector Yasin Shikder, accused 33 people and filed a charge sheet in the court.

Among them, Jisan, Manik, Rifat, Sohail, Aminul and Kamruzzaman are absconding. Besides, accused Ashraf, Mansoor, Morshedul, Rakibul, Imran, Hafiz, Masood and Moshiur are on bail.

On March 24, 2022, Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu was shot dead in front of the Bata showroom next to Islami Bank in Shahjahanpur at around 10:30 PM. At that time, a college student named Samia Afran Preeti (19) who was in the rickshaw next to the car was also killed. Apart from this, Tipu's driver Munna was shot dead. That night, Tipu's wife, who was killed at Shahjahanpur police station, Farhana Islam Dolly, a reserved councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), filed a murder case as the plaintiff. Unknown persons are accused in this.
