The election campaign ended late at night. On Wednesday (May 8), Kaunia and Pirgacha upazila parishad elections of Rangpur will be held. In these two upazilas, 27 people are fighting for three positions including the chairman. Out of these 27 candidates, 21 are in various posts of Awami League. On the contrary, in Pirgacha Upazila, there were three Jatiya Party candidates for three positions, but they did not take the plow symbol. Selecting individual symbols. Jatiya Party does not have a single candidate in Kaunia.

Analysts say that since Awami League has more than one candidate, the level of influence and violence will increase. Others will take advantage of the gap. In addition to the open dispute between the local Awami League for a long time, many people also think that the effect of the murder of former commerce minister Tipu Munshi during the Eid greeting ceremony may have an impact on the election results.

According to the information received from the Election Commission, tension has been prevailing since the beginning of the upazila elections in Kaunia. Among the 13 candidates in the field here, 10 are from Awami League. Among them, both the current chairman and vice chairman candidates are heavyweight candidates of Awami League.

Even then, they hope for party support for themselves. In contrast is independent tax lawyer Humayun Kabir Mukul. He wants to reduce the weight of heavyweights.

Election monitoring and analysis organization Citizens for Good Governance (Sujan) says that the two Awami League leaders who are candidates for the chairmanship in Kaunia are divided into two camps. Not only that, one side is the plaintiff and the other side is the defendant in the murder of the former commerce minister at the Eid greetings exchange event. Even though the party investigation committee, the dispute has not been resolved yet. Therefore, there is ongoing tension with the field environment around this election. The administration should challenge and make the elections fair.

Awami League leader Milon has various reasons for winning the election with the demand of a large part of the leaders and activists, including being a candidate in the past. Besides the advantage of having multiple candidates, Japa candidate Mahbub hopes to win on his corruption-free image.

Among the 4 people in the field as vice chairman Shah Md.
