Two leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), both named Saiful Alam, are now reportedly involved in daily extortion activities at the Mohakhali bus terminal in Dhaka, with collections amounting to around Tk 1 million per day. One of them, Saiful Alam Nirob, former convener of Dhaka North city BNP, and the other, Cumilla BNP joint convener Saiful Alam, are said to have gained control over various transport sectors following the regime change.
Sources from the transport sector claim that Cumilla BNP leader Saiful Alam has taken control of the Dhaka Road Transport Owners' Association, while Saiful Alam Nirob has established his dominance over the Mohakhali bus terminal, Tejgaon truck terminal, and several other key areas in Dhaka. Nirob is also accused of using his influence to control local businesses, mosques, and fish markets, with reports of him pressuring authorities to grant contracts to BNP leaders.

In response to the allegations, Saiful Alam Nirob has denied any direct involvement in extortion, stating that local leaders of BNP's affiliated organizations approached officials at the Roads and Highways Department for business purposes. He acknowledged suggesting to officials to offer work to those individuals, but denied any further involvement.
