My son was supposed to come home this Eid. Before being taken hostage, the son was saying that father will go home for Eid, we will celebrate Eid together. But what irony of fate my son is held hostage by pirates thousands of miles away.

This is how the words were spoken by the retired principal Abdul Qayyum, father of Naogaon ASM Saiduzzaman, the chief engineer of the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah, who was held hostage by Somali pirates. As a result, there is no joy of Eid in their village home. He is counting the hours hoping to get his son back.

Saiduzzaman's elderly parents and wife have been spending time waiting for the news of their son's release since he was kidnapped on March 12. Spending time praying to God Almighty to get the child back. And sometimes looking at his son's picture. The wait seems like they don't want to end. They want her child to be released before Eid. But that possibility is very slim. After the hijacking of the ship, Saiduzzaman's family and relatives do not enjoy the joy of Eid because of the fear of what is happening to their fate.

23 sailors of the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah were taken hostage by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. Among them, ASM Saiduzzaman, the chief engineer of the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah, son of Abdul Qayyum, the retired principal of Dubalhati Road, Polytechnic Avenue in Naogaon city and former president of Naogaon district press club. Since the ship's hijacking, family members have been watching for its arrival. The father, mother, wife and relatives of the prisoner Saiduzzaman are waiting for good news from the government or ship owners before Eid.

According to family sources, Saiduzzaman has been working for 20 years as a marine engineer on the ships of various local and foreign companies. He is currently working on a ship owned by SR Shipping Limited, a subsidiary of the group in Chittagong. MV Abdullah Ship is a ship of SR Shipping Limited Company.

Saiduzzaman's father Abdul Qayyum said, "My son was supposed to come home this Eid." He said that father will go home on Eid and take leave and celebrate Eid together. But what irony of fate my son is held hostage by pirates thousands of miles away.

Every year I shop for Eid but nothing happened this time. We are waiting for the son's health and safe return. I wish you to come back to us soon. Sometimes the pirates are being contacted and are not giving any hindrance. And the shipping companies and the government are saying that they are trying to bring it back.

Saiduzzaman's mother Kohinoor Begum said, we do not have the joy of Eid. We want to get the boy back as soon as possible. I demand and request that the government take the initiative to bring my son and others back to the country before Eid. Nothing feels good without a son. When will the treasure of my chest return?

Saiduzzaman's wife Manna Tahrin Shatadha said, I would be happier than the joy of Eid if I could get my husband back soon. I don't know when I will return. The government should take initiative quickly. We are spending day and night in a lot of worries. I can't explain what I say. Bring back my husband at any cost. We can't bear such pain anymore.

Naogaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S, M, Robin Sheesh said, since he was taken hostage by Somali pirates, he has visited Saiduzzaman's house and assured all kinds of cooperation to the family members. All efforts are being made by the government and the ship owner to rescue the kidnapped sailors. In such a situation the family members are going through a really tough time.
