The accused sentenced to death is Muhammad Ali Bappi, son of Md Zakaria, grandson of deceased Abdur Rahman of Gajaria village of Comilla Chauddagram upazila.
According to the details of the case, Tawhida Islam Ilma (9), a third grade student of Ghazaria Government Primary School, went missing after 3 pm on March 15, 2019. The next day, the accused Muhammad Ali Bappi (21) hired an autorickshaw and a microphone and started miking in the area. And the accused Muhammad Ali Bappi was arrested and interrogated and released by the local people without getting any information.
After that on March 16, Ilma's dead body was recovered from Dakatiya river wrapped in cotton cloth by Chauddagram police station. Later, Bappi confessed to the murder and said that to satisfy his sexual desire, he took tamarind to his house and forcibly raped her by wrapping a veil around her mouth and neck.
In this incident, in 2019 Ilma's father, Md. Delwar Hossain, became the plaintiff and filed a case with Chouddagram police station, accusing Mohammad Ali Bappi, son of Md. Zakaria, of the same village.
On June 2 of the same year, the accused Muhammad Ali Bappi filed a charge sheet in the learned court involving Md. Mizan (22), son of Abul Kalam of the same village. 2020 In order to frame the charges against the two defendants in the relevant section, after receiving the testimony of 10 witnesses for the state, after the argument hearing, after reviewing the confessional statement of the accused, Muhammad Ali Bappi, the charges brought against the convicted accused Muhammad Ali Bappi were proven beyond doubt, and the accused Muhammad Ali Bappi was sentenced to death and fined 50 thousand taka and the other accused. The court acquitted Md Mizan as the charges brought against him were not proved. The accused were present in the courtroom when the verdict was announced.
Expressing satisfaction with this verdict, the lawyer Special PP Advocate Pradeep Kumar Dutta and APP Advocate Md. Jahangir Alam said, "We hope that the High Court will uphold the verdict and implement it quickly."
Advocate Md. Atiqul Islam (Atiq), the lawyer of the defendant, said - the defendant is dissatisfied and angry with this verdict. I will appeal to the high court soon after I get the copy of the verdict. I am hopeful that the High Court will acquit the accused Mohammad Ali Bappi.
