Young on his deathbed due to electrocution while visiting Shakib

The former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team and the world's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan came to see Md. A young man named Nirav was electrocuted. About 35-40 percent of his body was burnt. Later the locals rescued him and sent him to the hospital.

The incident took place on the second floor of Malek Tower in Dhora Bazar of Chauddagram Upazila of Comilla on Tuesday (May 7) afternoon. Officer-in-charge (OC) Trinath Saha of Chauddagram police station confirmed the matter.


Locals said that Shakib Al Hasan is going to open a showroom called Harlan Store on Tuesday afternoon. On the news of his arrival, eager crowds began to throng Dhodkara Bazaar from noon. Hearing that the showroom will be inaugurated on the ground floor of Malek Tower in Dhodkara Bazar, several fans took a stand on the second floor of Malek Tower to catch a glimpse of Shakib Al Hasan. At that time, a young man named Nirav got trapped in the electric wire attached to the balcony. His whole body was electrocuted. With the efforts of the people present, he was separated from the electricity cable and taken to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex in an ambulance, and the doctor on duty sent him to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

Deputy Assistant Medical Officer of Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex Rabiul Alam said that the injured young man was sent to the burn unit of Comilla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment as 30-40 percent of his body was burnt. He is undergoing treatment there.
