Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called for increased efforts to highlight Bangladesh's climate crisis concerns at the COP29 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan. Speaking at a coordination meeting with the Bangladesh delegation, he stated, "Our main efforts will be to include our concerns and demands in the final declaration of COP29."
Environment Secretary Farhina Ahmed informed that Bangladesh has established nine teams to negotiate key areas, including climate finance, loss and damage, and adaptation mechanisms. She reported that Bangladesh has received $344 million in grants and $250 million in loans as climate finance from Global North countries. The delegation includes representatives from 29 NGOs and civil society groups.
